Paul McCartney’s many versions of his latest album
Paul McCartney has recently released details of his latest album, III which is great news for his legion of fans…but not so much for their bank account, considering the number of vinyl versions that are available. Below is the initial list of variations that are or were available.
The majority of the options below have long been sold out, so we’ve updated with eBay links, should you be that eager to make a purchase. Alternatively, click on the second ‘sold’ link to see the sales history of how much you could have paid…and they say eBay flipping isn’t a big deal.
Version 1 – The standard black LP – Currently available from Amazon at £29.99 (was 34.99)
Version 2 – The Indie UK Exclusive White Vinyl – Available for pre-order from all indie record shops £29.99
(n.b. some stores are listing their stock as being ‘numbered’ rumours state North America has numbers 1 – 4000 and Europe has 4001 – 7000). These are selling fast!
Version 3 – UK Exclusive Hmv Blue Vinyl – Only available from UK Hmv stores or delivered to UK addresses only £34.99
Version 4 – US exclusive Third Man Records 333 edition. The 333 Edition is limited to 333 copies and is pressed on ‘yellow-with-black-dots’ vinyl created using 33 recycled vinyl copies of McCartney and McCartney II by Third Man Pressing. – $60 SOLD OUT
Version 5 – Paul McCartney online store exclusive – Exclusive Third Man Records Version Red LP – Limited to 3000 copies only Hand Numbered sleeve. – $33.33 SOLD OUT
Version 6 – Spotify Exclusive LP (via Paul McCartney Store) – 130g coke bottle clear vinyl disc with printed inner disc sleeve. – $29.33 SOLD OUT
Version 7 – A Newbury Comics U.S. exclusive colour vinyl pressing with 1,500 copies available domestically. – $31.99 SOLD OUT
So for true die-hard fans, you’ve got 7 versions (so far) to collect (though you’d need a US and UK address to collect them all. Altogether they’ll cost you roughly £218, although if you haven’t already been successful with half of the above releases you’re probably going to need to treble that amount if not more via eBay flippers.
